Joseph (Joe) Hill, a former Senior IRS Revenue Officer, founded Tax Solutions, Inc. in 1983.  TSI was the first and is the oldest Tax Resolution Firm in America.  We specialize in representing clients that owe the IRS and cannot pay the total owed or do not honestly feel the purported balance being collected by the IRS is correct.  We represent individuals, corporations, LLCs, partnerships, trusts and estates.  We represent clients owing income tax, employment tax, excise tax and estate tax.

Joe was a field collection officer assigned to the IRS Field Collection Division.  Within the IRS, the Field Collection Division is responsible for collecting taxes that have not been voluntarily paid by taxpayers.  As a field Revenue Officer with the IRS, Joe’s job was to meet with delinquent taxpayers on a face-to-face basis and to collect tax for the IRS.  And he was very good at his job. Joe worked the cases no one else could close.  For many years he led his region in field enforcement actions. Enforcement actions include seizing homes, businesses, autos, equipment, airplanes, boats and any other asset a taxpayer may own.

During his years with the IRS, he met with many CPAs and Attorneys who represented taxpayers who owed the IRS.  In the vast majority of these cases, the taxpayer’s representative had no idea how to effectively represent and protect their clients.  Although the CPA or Attorney may have been excellent in their field, accounting, tax return preparation or income tax law, they had absolutely no idea how to protect their clients when dealing with the IRS Collection Division.

When Joe resigned his commission with the IRS in 1983, his original intent in founding this company was to provide clients who owed the IRS honest, knowledgeable and aggressive representation in dealing with the collection arm of the Internal Revenue Service.  As such, we became the first firm in America that specialized in cases involving the IRS Collection Division.  We also began the term, Tax Resolution Firm.  The values Joe set for the company, pride in our work, integrity and trust with our clients, respect for our clients and timely responses to our clients are still the principals the company follows today.

We have never made unrealistic claims that could not be delivered, as most of the so-called tax resolutions firms advertise today.  We provide our clients with all options available to deal with their IRS problems.  And for most clients, a settlement for “pennies on the dollar” is not a valid option.  However, every client does have options.  We explain your options to you and advise you of the consequences of these options, both good and bad.  You will know the truth on your chance of success for each option available to you.

Of major concern to our firm is the protection of our clients, their families, their business, their assets and their rights while minimizing the effects of the IRS collection policies and techniques in disrupting their lives.  We legally protect our clients using all available procedures as allowed under the IRC, IRM and IRS regulations.  Also of concern to us is whether we can save you money as we provide representation to you.

Each of our associates is an Enrolled Agent.  You might wonder, what is an Enrolled Agent?  The Internal Revenue Service allows three professional license designations to represent taxpayers before the IRS.  Attorneys and CPAs, who are both licensed by their respective state, and Enrolled Agents, who are licensed by the US Treasury Department. An Enrolled Agent is licensed by the Treasury Department in one of two ways, with a minimum of five years of employment with the IRS in tax law and enforcement, or by passing an exam consisting of accounting and tax law.  Enrolled agents have had extensive background checks by the Treasury Department and are subject to Circular 230 requirements as set forth by the Treasury Department. Each of our Enrolled Agents is authorized to represent clients before the IRS in all 50 states.

Tax Solutions has on staff, associates with a total of more than 190 years of experience as Senior IRS Agents and tax resolution specialists.  Revenue Officers, Appeal Officers, Settlement Officers, Offer in Compromise Specialists, Analysts, Instructors and Managers are some of the positions our staff has held within the IRS. Each of our Associates has been selected to join our firm because of their superior knowledge and experience in IRS procedures and techniques. Not all IRS Agents are the same; therefore we do not ask just any former IRS Agent to become part of our company. We only select the cream of the crop to represent and interact with our clients.

Our associates are members of the NAEA, TNSEA, NSTP and NATP.  Joe is also a graduate of the National Tax Practice Institute and a Fellow of the NTPI.
